Applies To Product(s): SELECTserver Gateway Version(s): 09.00.00.113 Environment: N/A Area: Installation / Configuration Subarea: N/A Original Author: Jeremy Hoesly, Bentley Technical Support Group Introduction Some older Bentley products from 2004 and earlier such as MicroStation V8 2004 or MicroStation J cannot talk directly with the latest version of SELECTserver. A backward compatibility environment called the SELECTserver Gateway is provided to license such products. The following support solution shows how to download, install, and configure a SELECTserver Gateway for use with V8 2004 and earlier Bentley products. Steps to accomplish Download the SELECTserver Gateway component The SELECTserver Gateway component should be installed in one of two places: On a server accessible by workstations on the local network - This option is preferable if multiple workstations with V8 2004 or earlier Bentley products are used in the office. Directly on a workstation - This option is preferable if only one or two workstations with V8 2004 or earlier Bentley products require access or if the workstations are laptops which routinely must use the products apart from the network. The component is available free of charge and can be downloaded from Bentley's Software Downloads site. The following support solution provides general download instructions . Specifically in Step 4, please make the selections shown below. On the following screen, please choose one of the highlighted SELECTserver Gateway listings, depending on whether the computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Most computers and servers are running 64-bit operating systems now. Install the SELECTserver Gateway component Once downloaded, run the installer, select the first option, and click the OK button. Then click the Install button to proceed through the installation. Several screens will appear. Choose the default options to proceed. Once the installation is complete, click the Continue button to configure it with your SELECTserver license settings. The SELECTserver Gateway will be pointing to the SELECTserver used by XM or V8i Bentley products. When prompted for licensing information, enter the server name and site activation key provided when your contract was created or renewed (i.e. fulfillment documents). For those using SELECTserver OnLine (i.e. selectserver.bentley.com), choose the first option in the Product Activation Wizard that appears. Configure products to use the SELECTserver Gateway Change the LIC files used by your V8 2004 or earlier Bentley products to contain a single line: SERVER=GatewayName Replace GatewayName with the computer name that is running your SELECTserver Gateway.
